Xcaret (Parks)

Mans ingenuity, combined with nature’s splendor, has formed a unique eco-archaeological theme park focusing on the natural flora, fauna, and landscape of the area.



There is an exhibition with scale models of all the major archaeological sites of the Yucatan, a botanical garden, aviary, coral reef aquarium, stables, a butterfly farm, a mushroom farm, and for water lovers, there is the inlet with its crystalline waters for snorkeling, a lagoon for swimming and a beach for relaxing either in the sun or in the shade of the palapas, or perhaps you would prefer a siesta in a hammock?

At the archaeological site of Xcaret you will discover the remnants of the rich cultural heritage that the Mayans, incredible mathematicians, astronomers and architects that they were, left to mankind, and you can feel the energy of the ancient civilization. It is believed that Xcaret, the Mayan word for "little inlet", is the site of the ancient port of Pole, and that the Mayans came here to purify their minds and bodies in the waters of the sacred inlet before sailing.


Xcaret offers something for everyone, but the water attractions and incredible night show seem to be the most favorite of all ages!

But the most unique feature of Xcaret is its underground river, which passes through caverns and underground channels, created by Mexican nature many years ago.



In the evening Xcaret puts on its finery and shows you another aspect of Mexico in a spectacular evening show, but a show like no other! It commences with a re-enactment of the ancient Maya ballgame and then you walk through torch-lit underground passageways evoking the atmosphere of ages past with candles and incense and ancient music. And then the grand finale – a 90-minute show in an outdoor theater with dances and music from the different regions of the country – a truly memorable evening event.
